Today, Pope Francis urged for peaceful solutions so that “conflict and bloodshed cease in Libya, where defenseless people are once more dying” and allow the millions of refugees “return to their home”, Syria.
During the traditional Easter Service which was followed by the papal address Urbi et Οrbi (To the city [of Rome] and to the World), the Roman Pontiff also urged for a “retreat” in South Sudan.
Besides, the Primate of the Roman Catholic Church expressed his “sadness and sorrow” for the bloody and deadly blasts in Sri Lanka, that plunged the Easter Sunday into mourning and lamenting, reassuring that he “stands by the victims of this horrendous coordinated attacks”.
“I heard with sadness and sorrow the news of the serious attacks that, just today, the day of the Easter, wrought grief and sorrow to some churches and other meeting places in Sri Lanka”, said the Pope.
“I wish to express my heartfelt closeness to the Christian community [of Sri Lanka], wounded as it was gathered in prayer, and to all the victims of such cruel violence,” added Pope Francis.
