Pope Francis, in the introduction to the book “The Jubilee of Hope,” released today in bookstores, reflects on the upcoming Catholic Holy Year, beginning on December 24, as a profound opportunity for global peace.
“I would so wish for the Catholic Holy Year to truly become an opportunity for a ceasefire in all countries where armed conflicts are raging,” the Pontiff emphasizes.
The Argentine Pope underlines the devastating impact of war, stating, “From war, any war, it must be clear that everyone emerges as a loser, everyone! From the first day, there are no winners and losers, only losers.”
Regarding the Holy Year, Pope Francis highlights its universal nature, emphasizing that “everyone, everyone, can live this experience of pilgrimage.” He clarifies that the Holy Year is not reserved for those deemed “perfect” but offers an opportunity for every individual to experience reconciliation and forgiveness.
