A three-year memorial service was held today, Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Patriarchal Church in the Phanar for the late Metropolitan Gennadios of Sassima.
Metropolitan Elder Emmanuel of Chalcedon was present in prayerful attendance. The Divine Liturgy was presided over by Metropolitan Stefanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos, with the concelebration of Metropolitans Maximos of Sylivria and Andreas of Saranta Ekklisies.
Also prayerfully attending were Metropolitans Chrysostomos of Myra and Maximos of Switzerland, Bishop Adrianos of Halicarnassus, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and pilgrims from abroad.
Later that afternoon, the Patriarchal Commissioner presided over the Great Vespers for the Feast of the Holy Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council.
Tomorrow, on the feast day itself, a Patriarchal and Synodal Divine Liturgy will be celebrated, during which the 1700th anniversary of the convening of the historic First Ecumenical Council will be officially commemorated.
