At today’s Session of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, at the Phanar, the current Archdeacon of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia who has served by the side of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the Rev. Athinagoras Karakonstantakis, was elected Bishop of the Holy Diocese of Canberra.
At the same time, Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne, Rev. Christophoros Krikelis, was elected Assistant Bishop to the Archbishop, and Chancellor of the Holy Archdiocese, with the title of the once illustrious Diocese of Kerasounta.
