The Ecumenical Patriarchate issued an official announcement today, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, following the passing of the late Metropolitan Kyrillos of Moschonisia. The announcement notes that an extraordinary meeting was held under the presidency of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
During the meeting, after the formal announcement of the repose of the venerable hierarch and the acknowledgment of his lifelong service to the Mother Church—first as Metropolitan of Seleucia, then as Shepherd of the Metropolis of Imbros and Tenedos, and finally as Metropolitan of Moschonisia—the assembled hierarchs rose in prayer, offering petitions for the repose of his blessed soul “in the dwellings of the righteous.”
The details of the Funeral Service were then determined as follows:
- The Funeral Service will be chanted at the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Dormition of the Theotokos in Imbros on Ascension Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 13:00.
- On the morning of the same day, a Divine Liturgy for the repose of the late hierarch’s soul will be celebrated by Metropolitan Kyrillos of Imbros and Tenedos.
- The passing of the hierarch will be formally announced in a memorial notice issued by the Ecumenical Patriarch together with the hierarchs of the City (Constantinople).
- The Church’s mourning period will be led by Archimandrite Kallinikos Dorakis, Protosyncellus of the Holy Metropolis of Imbros and Tenedos.
- The eulogy will be delivered by Metropolitan Kyrillos of Imbros and Tenedos.
- The burial of the late hierarch will take place at the cemetery of Agridia in Imbros, the place of his origin.
