With the blessing of Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, the Parish of Saints Constantine and Helen in Perth carried out a Christmas event to collect new toys and donate them to the Children’s Hospital in the capital of Western Australia.
A total of 182 toys were gathered by the children and the families of the Parish of Saints Constantine and Helen.
On Wednesday, December 8, the Hierarchical Head of the Parish, Fr. Eleftherios Gerovasilis, together with members of the Ecclesiastical Committee and Teachers of Sunday School, transported the toys to the Children’s Hospital.
Fr. Eleftherios and the representatives of the Parish were welcomed with great pleasure by the volunteer staff of the hospital, who works hard to take care of the families of the hospitalized children.
In total, there are over 450 volunteers who ensure that children and their families will experience as much comfort and moments of happiness as possible in the difficult moments of their hospital stay.
It is noted that throughout the year and especially during the Christmas period, there may be 150 children who have to stay in the hospital for medical treatment, while over 800 outpatients go there for medical appointments.
The toys donated by the Parish of Saints Constantine and Helen will be placed in Christmas gift packages and will be offered to children in the coming days.
The volunteer staff of the hospital expressed their warm thanks to the representatives of the Parish for their generous support of their effort.
