The historical diocese of Budimlje-Niksic, which was established by Saint Sava in 1219, celebrated its patron saint day, the feast of St. Mary Magdalene, on August 4, 2020.
The Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in the monastery of Djurđevi Stupovi, the cathedral monastery of the Diocese of Budimlje-Niksic, was officiated by Bishop Joanikije with several priests and hieromonks.
“Every preacher of the Gospel of God and every true witness of Christ is a witness of the Resurrection. Celebrating the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene, who accompanied the Lord together with the Holy Apostles, we glorify such a witness of Christ. When she met Christ, she was transferred from a non-being into a being, that she experienced resurrection before Christ’s Resurrection,” the Diocesan Bishop Joanikije said in his sermon.
