Peace is the ultimate good and a prerequisite for true progress and prosperity. In this spirit, the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa has expressed profound joy and gratitude over the achievement of an agreement that brings an end to a long and painful conflict.
Inspired by the Gospel saying, “Blessed are the peacemakers,” the Patriarchate emphasizes the importance of cooperation, faith, and human solidarity as paths to stability and hope for a peaceful future.
Read below the official statement of the Patriarchate of Alexandria:
“Blessed are the peacemakers” (Matthew 5:9).
Through His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa greets the signing of the agreement for the cessation of the war in Gaza with feelings of joy and gratitude. This agreement, which took place yesterday in Sharm el-Sheikh, the Land of Peace, is the fruit of Egypt’s great and persistent efforts within the framework of the Peace Plan proposed by President Donald Trump of the United States of America.
The Patriarchate of Alexandria blesses and applauds this agreement, which embodies hope for ending a multidimensional humanitarian tragedy.
Under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the Egyptian State played a leading role in this historic endeavor, working tirelessly to cease the humanitarian crisis and triumph justice and peace in this long-suffering region of the Middle East.
May the Lord of Peace grant the region stability and security, bless all who contributed to this agreement, and inspire hope and optimism for a better future in the hearts of all people.
