After the completion of the Divine Liturgy that took place in the patriarchal chapel of Saint Theodore, the working sessions of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria began this morning, under the presidency of Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria and All Africa.
Immediately afterwards, the Hierarchs of the Patriarchate of Alexandria went to the Synodal Hall, where the working session of the first day of the Synod began. The working sessions will last until January 12.
Following the review of the work of the Patriarchate of Alexandria for the previous year by Patriarch Theodore, Metropolitan Gregorios of Cameroon made the opening statement on “Tackling the Ιntrusion of the Orthodox Churches on the African Continent”, an issue that acquires special significance considering the recent decision of the Russian Church to establish an Exarchate in Africa.
