The Patriarchate of Alexandria celebrated the memory of the late Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint George in Old Cairo Agathangelos (Zarifis) on Sunday, January 24, 2021.
In particular, as reported by ekkairo.org, Metropolitan Nikodimos of Memphis presided over the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the Holy Monastery of Saint George in old Cairo. The Metropolitan of Memphis was accompanied by the Abbot of the historic monastery Archimandrite Damaskinos Alazrai and Archdeacon Parthenios.
The memorial service of the late Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint George has been established since January 2020.
This year’s memorial service was held on the 51st anniversary of his death (1970-2021), acknowledging the great spiritual work he carried out during his forty years of service in the Holy Monastery (1933-1970).
It should be noted that in April 2020, a bust of the late Abbot Agathangelos (Zarifi) was placed in the garden of the Holy Monastery of Saint George, which was created by the famous Egyptian sculptor and artist Nathan Doss.
The unveiling of the bust took place on April 24, 2020, under Patriarch Theodore I of Alexandria and All Africa.
