On Sunday morning, November 24, a Patriarchal Divine Liturgy was solemnly celebrated at the Holy Church of St. Nicholas in Kolonaki, Athens, a church granted to the Ecumenical Patriarchate by the Church of Greece.
The Divine Liturgy was presided over by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who had participated in the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Metropolis of Nea Ionia over the preceding days.
Also in attendance were Archbishop Makarios of Australia, Metropolitan Theodoretos of Laodicea, the Ecumenical Patriarchate’s representative in Athens, Metropolitan Joseph of Proikonissos, and Metropolitan Maximos of Silyvria.
The service was further graced by the presence of many Archons of the Ecumenical Throne.
Also present were the Archon, Sotiris Tsiordas, and the new Political Commander of Mount Athos, Al-kiviadis Stephanis, who after the Divine Liturgy was appointed by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew as Archon Eparch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
