Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos met with Patriarch of Moscow Kirill.
After his trip to Constantinople and his meeting with Turkish President Erdoğan —to whom he expressed his gratitude “for his recognition of the importance of preserving the ecclesiastical heritage within Turkey”— the Patriarch of Jerusalem traveled to Kazakhstan.
In the country’s capital, Astana, the “8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions” is being held, in which both Theophilos and Kirill are participating.
In contrast to his visit to Constantinople a few days ago, where he avoided visiting the seat of the First-Throne Church and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Theophilos met with the Patriarch of Moscow in Astana.
The meeting was attended by Bishop Alexios, personal secretary to Patriarch Kirill, and the deputy chairman of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Archimandrite Philaretos Bulekov.
