As part of its long-standing humanitarian and medical outreach, a delegation of the organization “Heart Doctors,” arriving from the island of Rhodes, held an official meeting on Saturday, January 24, 2025, with the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodore II, during their visit to Egypt.
The meeting took place at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of Saint George in Old Cairo and was conducted in a particularly warm, spiritual, and cordial atmosphere.
During the encounter, the representatives of the organization presented the multifaceted humanitarian and medical work of “Heart Doctors,” which is comprised of distinguished physicians, nurses, and volunteers.
The organization maintains a consistent presence in the field of humanitarian and medical assistance, guided by a steadfast commitment to serving the suffering human person.
The members of the organization carry out missions in countries across Asia and Africa, offering free medical care and pharmaceutical assistance to patients and people in need, often in regions with little or no access to basic healthcare services.
The contribution of “Heart Doctors” has proven particularly significant and invaluable for the Patriarchate of Alexandria, especially during missions in Cameroon, as well as in numerous other African countries, where many medical missions have been carried out with tangible benefits for local communities.
Special emphasis was placed on the fact that the organization has been a steadfast and substantial supporter of the work of the Patriarch since the period when he served as Metropolitan of Cameroon, offering concrete support to his pastoral, missionary, and philanthropic ministry.
This cooperation laid the foundations for a relationship of mutual trust and shared service, which has continued and grown stronger to this day.
Throughout its activity, the organization has also worked closely, and in a spirit of ecclesiastical unity, with many Hierarchs of the Throne of Alexandria.
Particular mention and deep gratitude were expressed for Eleni Sotiriou, who has been a constant pillar of the organization. Her long-standing, discreet yet essential cooperation with the Patriarchate of Alexandria, her dedication, and her personal contribution have rendered this work vibrant, stable, and fruitful.
The Patriarch expressed his warm and paternal thanks to her, as well as to the President of the organization, all its founders, and volunteers, acknowledging their enduring and valuable support for the work of the Patriarchate.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of good wishes and with the reaffirmation of the commitment to continue the fruitful collaboration, for the benefit of the suffering human person and the missionary ministry of the Church in Africa.
Present at the meeting was Metropolitan Savvas of Nubia, Abbot of the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of Saint George in Old Cairo.
