Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew will concelebrate the Divine Liturgy with Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria at the Phanar, one day before the Feast of Saint Andrew, which is also the Thronal Feast of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The presence of the second-ranking primate in Constantinople is a clear message at an Inter-Orthodox level, in particular to Moscow. Through the concelebration of the Divine Liturgy, the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Patriarchate of Alexandria show that they are united at a time when the Patriarchate of Moscow targets them due to the issue of the autocephaly of the Church of Ukraine.
Patriarch of Alexandria Theodore will preside over the Vespers Service on November 29. The next day, the Ecumenical Patriarch and the Patriarch of Alexandria will concelebrate the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy to commemorate Holy and All-Praised Apostle Andrew the First-Called. Officials from the Vatican will also attend the Thronal Feast of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, led by Cardinal Kurt Koch, who is the President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
