The Patriarchate of Georgia has announced that the 73rd stage of the mass baptism initiative for third and subsequent children will take place on June 7, 2026, at the Holy Trinity Patriarchal Cathedral (Sameba) in Tbilisi.
The program, which was established by the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia to encourage larger families and support demographic growth, continues to be one of the most significant pastoral initiatives of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
According to the Patriarchate’s announcement, at 8:00 p.m., the Patriarch will bless the newly baptized children during a special ceremony at the cathedral.
Through this initiative, the Patriarch serves as the godfather of third and subsequent children born into Orthodox families, a tradition that has brought thousands of children into the Church since its inception and has become a symbol of the Georgian Church’s commitment to family life and the spiritual upbringing of future generations.
