On the Feast of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije visited the Monastery of Savina near Herceg Novi, where he prayerfully took part in the Divine Liturgy celebrated by the monastery’s abbot, Hieromonk Makarios.
The Patriarch was welcomed by Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral and Abbot Makarios, together with Their Eminences Metropolitan Nikodim of Dalmatia and Metropolitan Methodije of Budimlje and Nikšić. Also present were Mr. Vladimir Roganović, Director of the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia, and Mr. Stevan Katić, Mayor of Herceg Novi.
Patriarch Porfirije expressed his profound joy at the successful restoration of the Monastery of Savina’s Great Church and the significant spiritual and cultural celebrations that continue to be regularly held in the region of Herceg Novi.
