On April 19, 2026, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije visited the Monastery of Milosevac, where he was warmly and fraternally welcomed by Metropolitan Jefrem of Banja Luka, Bishop Sava of Marča, who serves as the monastery’s abbot, and the monastic brotherhood.
The Patriarch spent the night at the monastery and, on the following morning, prayerfully participated in the Divine Liturgy.
The Monastery of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos in Milosevac is a Serbian medieval monastery located near Prijedor. Historical evidence shows that the monastic church was active in the late Middle Ages, but the site was devastated during the Austro-Turkish wars at the end of the 17th century. For centuries, it remained in ruins, preserved only in local tradition and archaeological remains, until its restoration in recent times. Today, it stands as an important spiritual center for Orthodox Serbs in the Prijedor region.
Prior to delivering a lecture at the Faculty of Law of the University of Banja Luka, Patriarch Porfirije also visited Metropolitan Jefrem at the Episcopal Residence. Their meeting took place in a warm and brotherly atmosphere.
