Responding to the invitation from Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia, accompanied by Metropolitan Irinej of Bačka and other clergy and officials of the Serbian Orthodox Church, will travel today to Moscow, where he will stay during Bright Week.
During his visit, and based on the decision of the academic council of the Moscow Theological Academy, led by Bishop Kirill of Sergiev Posad and Dmitrov, Patriarch Porfirije will be awarded an honorary doctorate in theology (honoris causa) in recognition of his scholarly and educational contributions to the development of theological studies and for strengthening the ties between the two sister Churches.
On April 25, 2025, the two Patriarchs will concelebrate the Divine Liturgy at the Dormition Cathedral of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. Patriarch Porfirije and his delegation will also visit the Representation of the Serbian Orthodox Church, as well as monasteries and major holy sites of the Russian capital.
