Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia presided over the Divine Liturgy on November 2, 2025, at the Church of Saint Sava in Vračar.
On this occasion, Patriarch Porfirije ordained Predrag Marinković, an employee of the Information and Publishing Institution of the Serbian Orthodox Church, to the holy rank of deacon.
After the reading of the Gospel passage about the sower and the seed (Luke 8:5–15), His Holiness delivered a sermon, saying:
“Today’s parable of the sower and the seed is, in essence, a story about the Kingdom of Heaven and the love of God. The parable contains several elements that reveal its deep spiritual meaning — the sower, the seed he sows, the soil on which it falls, and the surrounding conditions that determine the fruit it bears.
The sower, without question, is the Lord Himself. He is the One who sows, the love that gives the finest and most beautiful gifts to each person, exactly as they need them. As the sower is perfect, so too is the seed — carrying within it the potential to bear the most wonderful, grace-filled fruits.”
Patriarch Porfirije continued: “Our task is to do our part faithfully. When and how the results will come, when our labor will bear fragrant and blessed fruit, depends on God’s love and His divine providence.
It is up to us to have faith in the word of God and to make what we have heard and seen become our life — that our life may be Christ Himself, to whom be glory with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and forever.”
