Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in the Republic of Serbia, Koenraad Adam, in Belgrade on April 9, 2021.
Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia and Ambassador Adam discussed current problems that exist in Europe and the region, and which, according to the Patriarch, must be resolved through dialogue. “All people are godly beings and I want, according to modest possibilities, to help everyone in order to preserve peace and build relations full of trust and mutual respect between nations,” said Patriarch Porfirije.
Congratulating the Patriarch on his enthronement, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium noted that the Serbian Orthodox Church has a great influence in society and a significant role in the rapprochement and cooperation of the peoples in the Balkans. In that process, he can count on the support of the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium.
The meeting was attended by the First Secretary of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in the Republic of Serbia, Ruben Van Opstal, and the head of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch, Deacon Aleksandar Prascevic.
