Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia held a meeting on December 16, 2024, at the Patriarchal Court in Belgrade with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Vassilis Palmas, who is on an official visit to the Republic of Serbia.
During the cordial and friendly discussion, the participants emphasized the great importance of further strengthening the mutual respect and affection between the two brotherly Orthodox nations and their states, which are linked by similarities in historical circumstances and the current challenges they face and strive to overcome. In this regard, the Patriarch emphasized that both Serbia and Cyprus should consider peace and the preservation of peace as the fundamental direction of their actions.
The reception was also attended by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Bratislav Gašić, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Andreas Fotiou, and Archpriest Đorđe Stojisavljević, Head of the Office of the Patriarch of Serbia.
