Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia served an Akathist to the Most Holy Theotokos on the evening of March 21, 2025, at the Church of Saint Sava in Vračar.
At the conclusion of the service, during which prayers were offered for peace within us and among us, Patriarch Porfirije delivered an archpastoral message to the faithful:
During the third week of Great Lent, Patriarch Porfirije emphasized that true peace begins within each heart through God’s grace and inner transformation.
He stressed that virtue is rooted in the Cross, calling believers to crucify personal will and conform to Christ. The Most Holy Theotokos is our greatest intercessor, embodying hope and faith amidst suffering. He prayed for the victims of the Kočani fire, especially Vukašin, and for the recovery of injured children treated in Belgrade.
He urged continuous prayer for healing, strength, and peace, reminding all of the need for love, understanding, and open-heartedness among people.
After the service, Patriarch Porfirije met with the parents of the young people from North Macedonia who are currently receiving treatment in Serbia following the devastating fire in Kočani. They came to the Church of Saint Sava to pray to the Lord and the Theotokos for their children. In their conversation with His Holiness, they expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support they have received from the Serbian people.
Currently, thirty patients injured in the Kočani fire are being cared for in medical institutions in Serbia.
