Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia met with the Director of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region.
On April 28, 2026, Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia received Vladimir Kokanović, Director of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, at the Patriarchal Palace in Belgrade.
Patriarch Porfirije welcomed his distinguished guest and emphasised his deep appreciation for the institution’s work in overseeing the status of the Serbian people in neighbouring countries and the diaspora. He emphasised that the Directorate and the Serbian Orthodox Church are united in this vital mission.
Mr Kokanović expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and briefed Patriarch Porfirije on the Directorate’s operations, focusing particularly on activities within the region and efforts to improve the status of the Serbian people despite varying social and political circumstances. Furthermore, Mr Kokanović noted that the Directorate provides generous support to specific initiatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church’s dioceses abroad.
During the conversation, both parties emphasised the importance of preserving holy sites, cultural heritage, and the property of the Serbian Orthodox Church. These serve as the foundation of the spiritual and historical continuity of the Serbian people across the globe.
At the conclusion of the cordial meeting, the Patriarch wished Mr Kokanović every success in his future endeavours for the benefit of the Serbian people and the Church of Saint Sava.
Also present at the reception were: Protopresbyter Đorđe Stojisavljević, Chief of Cabinet to the Serbian Patriarch; Mr Miroljub Nestorović and Mr Stefan Grilić, Advisors to the Director; and Mr Boris Sekulić, an officer of the Patriarch’s Cabinet.
