Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia received Vladimir Marković, President of the Congress of Serbian-American Friendship, and Daniel Vajdić, a member of the Congress and President of Yorktown Solutions in Washington, D.C., on Friday.
During the meeting, held in a cordial atmosphere, the participants discussed ways to advance religious diplomacy and strengthen relations with the United States administration on the basis of shared Christian values.
Particular emphasis was placed on the protection of the Serbian spiritual, historical, and cultural heritage in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as on the position of the Serbian people in what was described as their ancestral homeland.
The participants stressed the importance of preserving the holy sites of the Serbian Orthodox Church, safeguarding religious freedom and cultural heritage, and increasing international engagement in their protection.
They also underlined the importance of continuing dialogue and cooperation with international partners in order to promote peace, uphold Christian values, and protect the spiritual and cultural identity of the Serbian people.
