On the Feast of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, April 20, 2025, Patriarch Porfirije presided of Serbia over the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchate of Peć.
“Christ is Risen! Truly, the Lord has risen, brothers and sisters! But with Him, humanity has also risen. We rise with Him. Every person, for whom the Lord came into the world, was created for eternal life,” said the Patriarch in his Paschal greeting, emphasizing the boundless joy and eternal truth of the Resurrection.
“There are no more enemies, no more death. No one can prevent us from sharing in this joy and embracing one another—even those who hate us. Through the Resurrection, we forgive all.”
He stressed that no one can live alone, regardless of faith, background, or status, because in the Risen Lord, “we are one.” He called on the faithful to see others through the eyes of Christ, reminding them that the Resurrection also defeats selfishness and ego, uniting all as brothers and sisters.
After the service, Patriarch Porfirije awarded 100 annual scholarships to students from Kosovo and Metohija, funded by the Sima A. Igumanov Endowment, and addressed them with words of blessing, support, and encouragement to live with Resurrection-inspired hope.
