Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia met on February 14, 2025, with Jean-François Colosimo, a distinguished Orthodox theologian, historian, publisher, and essayist from France, at the Parish House of the Church of Saint Sava in Vračar, Belgrade.
The Patriarch expressed his gratitude to his guest for his concern for the suffering Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, where Colosimo will be visiting in the coming days. During his visit, he is scheduled to meet with Metropolitan Teodosije of Raška and Prizren and visit the Visoki Dečani Monastery.
Patriarch Porfirije emphasized that he has personally been denied entry to Kosovo and Metohija on multiple occasions, a situation that clearly reflects the state of religious freedom in the region.
He stressed the urgent need for the involvement of the international community to ensure the survival of the remaining Serbian population in the region.
Colosimo recalled that he had already visited Kosovo and Metohija in 2010 and had personally witnessed the difficult conditions faced by the Serbian people and their Church in the region.
The meeting was attended by several distinguished guests, including Pierre Cochard, Ambassador of France, and Stanislas Pierret, Director of the French Institute in Belgrade and Advisor for Scientific and Cultural Cooperation. Also present were Elisabeth-Lilia Colosimo, Zorica Jocković Srdić, who served as translator, and Protodeacon Dr. Dragan Radić, Professor at the Faculty of Theology in Belgrade. Additionally, Deacon Nikola Kostić, Secretary of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch, and Olivera Jovanović, Editor-in-Chief of “Pravoslja,” the official publication of the Serbian Patriarchate, took part in the discussions.
