Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia sent a congratulatory message on May 22, 2026, to Patriarch Shio of Georgia, on the feast day of Saint Shio the Hermit, the heavenly patron of the primate of the Georgian Orthodox Church. The message states, among other things:
“Your Holiness, our beloved brother in Christ and concelebrant,
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ! (Romans 1:7)
We warmly congratulate you on the feast day of your heavenly patron, Saint Shio the Hermit, the Christ-glorified ascetic and struggler in love. May the Lord, through the prayers of His wondrous saint Shio, grant you an abundance of blessings, spiritual and physical strength, and wisdom, so that through your ministry and personal witness of faith you may glorify His all-beloved Name for many blessed years to come.”
