On Paschal Monday, April 13, 2026, His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the historic Visoki Dečani Monastery, in the presence of a large gathering of faithful.
The Ascension Church of the monastery was filled with worshippers who warmly welcomed the Serbian Patriarch, while he himself expressed deep joy, as the monastery holds special spiritual significance for him—having taken his monastic vows there four decades ago.
In his homily, Patriarch Porfirije emphasized that those who truly recognize Christ as the center of their lives are never deprived of joy. He highlighted that the Resurrection brings boundless joy to all humanity, especially to those who acknowledge Christ as the crucified and risen Son of God, who gives meaning and fulfillment to human existence.
He also underlined that humanity longs for eternal life and communion with God, but cannot achieve it alone. Christ, he said, overcame death and granted life as a divine gift, transforming human hope into a living reality.
Concluding his message, the Patriarch called on the faithful to make Christ the foundation of their lives, living in love, peace, and unity with all people, regardless of differences.
The Divine Liturgy was concelebrated by Metropolitan Theodosije of Raška and Prizren, Bishop Ilarion of Novo Brdo, Abbot Sava of Dečani, Archimandrite Danilo, and numerous clergy from various dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
