Serbian Patriarch Porfirije arrived in the afternoon at the Patriarchate of Peć, the stavropegial lavra of the Serbian Patriarchs, where he will celebrate the Feast of the Resurrection of Christ (Pascha) together with the faithful people, clergy, and monastics of Kosovo and Metohija.
Upon his arrival at the courtyard of this ancient spiritual center, the Patriarch was warmly welcomed by Metropolitan Teodosije of Raška and Prizren, Abbess Haritina and her sisterhood, local clergy, and a large gathering of faithful.
Following the service of the Doxology, Patriarch Porfirije venerated the miraculous icon of the Theotokos of Peć and the relics of his predecessors—Serbian archbishops and patriarchs—interred in the monastery.
On Great and Holy Friday, Patriarch Porfirije will preside over the solemn service of the Burial of Christ (the Epitaphios). On Holy Saturday, he will celebrate the Divine Liturgy at the Monastery of Visoki Dečani. For the radiant feast of Pascha, the Resurrection of Christ, Patriarch Porfirije will serve the festive Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchate of Peć, joining in joy and prayer with the faithful of the region.
