Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia had a conversation with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić acquainting him with the initiative for supporting the Ukrainian refugees, as well as with the aid that the Serbian Orthodox Church will send to the people in war-endangered areas.
President Vučić informed the Patriarch that the state will additionally engage in order for the refugees from Ukraine to receive timely and adequate assistance. The Patriarch and the President also discussed the situation in Kosovo and Metohija.
The President informed the Patriarch of the latest decisions of the Priština leadership, the situation in the region, as well as of the challenges that Serbia is facing in the light of the developments in Ukraine.
Patriarch Porfirije informed President Vučić in more detail about the attacks on the Serbian Orthodox Church and its property on Kosovo and Metohija and emphasized that it is important to preserve the togetherness and unity of the Serbian people.
The President and the Patriarch agreed that the preservation of peace and stability of the state of Serbia and its citizens, but to the same extent the peace and stability of the entire region, is of the utmost importance for both the Church and the state.
