In turn, His Excellency thanked the Patriarch for the reception and highlighted the important role that the Orthodox Church plays in contemporary Romanian society. The ambassador also emphasized the long-standing diplomatic relations between Romania and Iran, as well as commercial agreements between the two countries.
Cooperative Relations
Patriarch Daniel expressed his appreciation for Iran’s cultural and religious heritage, noting that Iran possesses some of the richest mineral resources in the world. He pointed out that onyx imported from Iran was used in the arches of the iconostasis doors of the National Cathedral.
In this regard, the ambassador expressed his willingness to cooperate with the Romanian Patriarchate, through the Iranian Embassy in Bucharest, to facilitate the acquisition of various types of marble from Iran.
