On Monday, on the feast of the Holy Trinity, Patriarch Daniel of Romania conveyed a message of appreciation to the Basilica Media Center, the official media institution of the Romanian Patriarchate, which celebrates nearly 18 years of activity since its founding in 2007.
The Patriarch emphasized that the mission of the Basilica Media Center is inspired by the communion and love of the Holy Trinity. Through its five branches—Radio Trinitas, Trinitas TV, the Lumina publications, Basilica News Agency, and the Press Office—the Center plays a vital role in promoting Christian values and strengthening the unity of the Romanian Orthodox faithful at home and abroad.
He also underlined the importance of responsible journalism in a digital age saturated with disinformation and superficial content. The Romanian Patriarch called for a sober, truthful, and spiritually beneficial form of communication that avoids sensationalism and cultivates moral discernment, kindness, and peace.
Patriarch Daniel concluded by congratulating the entire team of the Basilica Media Center and offering prayers for their continued health, strength, and success in sharing the Gospel of Christ’s merciful love with the modern world.

Basilica Media Center – A Media Mission Under the Sign of the Patriarchal Cross
The Feast of the Holy Trinity, the patronal feast of the Basilica Media Center of the Romanian Patriarchate, gives us the occasion to thank God, glorified in Trinity, for the blessed and fruitful activity of this media institution, which carries out a constant mission in the life of the Church and Romanian society. The Holy Trinity is the source and perfect model of the communion of love and cooperation. The Church’s work in the world, including in the field of communication, is inspired by this eternal love of the divine Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The aim of Christian communication is the promotion of truth, unity, and peace among people. In this regard, Christian communication is more than a mere transfer of information: it is communion in the truth of the faith, the cultivation of virtues, and cooperative work.
This year, the Romanian Orthodox Church marks 100 years since it was elevated to the rank of Patriarchate (1925–2025). The Centennial of the Romanian Patriarchate is a moment of reflection and gratitude for the entire mission of the Romanian Orthodox Church in the Romanian lands and throughout the diaspora.
Throughout its history, the Church has made use of the most advanced means of communication available at the time to transmit the light of faith and the values of the Gospel to the people. Within this framework, the establishment of the Basilica Media Center on October 27, 2007, fits naturally. Since then, it has grown steadily and has become a benchmark of professionalism and balance in both Romanian and international journalism.
Through its five components—Radio Trinitas, Trinitas TV, the Lumina publications, the Basilica News Agency, and the Press Office—the Basilica Media Center contributes to promoting Christian values in society and strengthening the spiritual unity of Orthodox Romanians both within the country and abroad. Through their diligent work, the Center’s teams create a communicative and media convergence that supports the mission of the Church, bringing to public attention living examples of faith, solidarity, and cooperation in the Holy Spirit.
A significant symbolic element in this media mission is the Patriarchal Cross, instituted by Romania’s first Patriarch, Miron Cristea. This emblem adorns not only church buildings and distinctions but also plays a central graphic role in the visual identity of the Basilica Media Center’s components, constantly reminding Orthodox journalists that their mission is carried out under the sign of the Holy Cross—the symbol of humble and merciful love, and also of victory over selfish passions, violence, and the evils of human life.
In a society marked by digital dependencies and information overload—which negatively affect mental health and life balance—the Basilica Media Center of the Romanian Patriarchate prioritizes spiritually beneficial content that fosters love of neighbor, kindness, philanthropy, initiatives for peace, communion, and cooperation. These are all fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22) and concrete expressions of living the Gospel of Christ’s merciful love.
In a media landscape increasingly affected by disinformation and fake news, we believe that the fight against misinformation is not carried out through sterile polemics or aggressive responses, but through an honest and sober journalistic approach, which wisely chooses to avoid spreading unverified, alarmist, or defamatory content.
In this way, the Basilica Media Center promotes sincere and authentic communication, becoming a space of trust and balance in a digital world marked by confusion, manipulation, and the desire for instant success.
In an age where the sensational and the negative are often excessively promoted—whether to attract higher ratings or out of malice—journalists who cultivate balance, discernment, and respect for the human person and for the country’s fundamental institutions contribute to the moral health of society and deserve appreciation and support.
With joy and high regard, we extend our congratulations to the entire team of the Basilica Media Center for their many efforts in fulfilling the Church’s media mission. We pray that the Most Holy Trinity may grant all those laboring in this mission health, peace, and blessing in their work of communicating the Gospel of Christ’s love to today’s world!
