Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia will elevate Bishop Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, who has been elected the new exarch of All Belarus, to the rank of metropolitan on Sunday, the patriarchal press service said.
Father Veniamin, most recently the bishop of Borisov and Maryina Gorka, will be elevated to the rank on metropolitan in accordance with the Synod’s decree appointing him the new head of the Belarusian Orthodox Church.
The ceremony will be conducted following a religious service at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow on September 6.
