Patriarch Kirill of Moscow believes that the COVID-19 pandemic may be the last sign that God is sending to humankind.
In his homily at the Divine Liturgy on Thursday, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church referred to the serious health crisis that the humankind is currently facing.
“Perhaps the human race has reached such a point, and this may be the point of no return. The Lord puts us in such a situation so that we can see the futility of those things for which the best years of life, all the forces, all the efforts of the mind and the will are wasted. Therefore, the main conclusion we must draw from the adversity that the entire human race is currently facing is that such events can not happen beyond the Divine Providence,” said Patriarch Kirill of Moscow.
“It’s a very powerful and perhaps the last alarm bell for everyone. It is an alarm bell, a sign from God Himself so that we can really learn to think differently, to face our daily obligations differently, to learn to overcome the vanity of life and to think more about the basic thing, the salvation of the soul.”
The Lord, Patriarch Kirill said, taught a lesson to all humankind by calling on people to change their lives through isolation and reconsideration.
