Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his condolences on the death of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
In his message, the Patriarch praised the late Prince for “warm feelings towards the Orthodox culture and traditions.” Moreover, Prince Philip “showed a lively interest in the history and culture of Russia,” as the Patriarch said.

Being a representative of the Greek line of the Oldenburg dynasty, His Royal Highness had warm feelings towards the Orthodox culture and traditions and was the honorary member of The Friends of Mount Athos Society.
