On September 2, 2025, a meeting took place between Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and Tanju Bilgiç, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to the Russian Federation, at the Patriarchal and Synodal Residence in the Danilov Stavropegial Monastery in Moscow. Ambassador Bilgiç was accompanied by Fatih Mert Arslan, Second Secretary of the Turkish Embassy.
Representing the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR) was Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, Deputy Chairman of the DECR.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the positive development of relations between Russia and Türkiye and highlighted the importance of spiritual and religious dialogue in strengthening ties between the peoples of the two nations. The discussion also included prospects for deepening cooperation between religious institutions.
