Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia extended heartfelt congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of his birthday.
The Patriarch noted the President’s long years of service, emphasizing the magnitude of his responsibilities: “More than a quarter of a century ago, you were called to a most important and demanding service, one that carries immense responsibility for the country and care for millions of fellow citizens.”
He went on to commend Putin’s leadership, stating that under his direction, “Russia has confidently followed the path of socio-economic development, overcome the challenges of the times, strengthened its sovereignty, scientific, technical and military potential, and sought to ensure national security and build just international relations.”
Patriarch Kirill highlighted that these efforts, in his view, contribute to the “further prosperity of the country and the well-being of its people.”
The head of the Russian Orthodox Church also expressed gratitude for the President’s continued attention to the Church’s role in public life.
He expressed confidence that cooperation between the government, the Church, and “all people of good will” would continue to strengthen Russia’s unity and moral foundations: “Together, we will continue to implement initiatives that contribute to the consolidation of our people, the strengthening of true national sovereignty, the affirmation of enduring spiritual and moral values in the lives of our contemporaries, the patriotic education of the younger generation, and the enhancement of Russia’s authority in the international arena.”
Concluding his congratulatory message, Patriarch Kirill wished the President divine strength and success: “I wish you unfailing strength, generous help from God, and blessed success in your further service for the benefit of the country and its citizens.”
