On April 27, 2025, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his heartfelt condolences to the Supreme Spiritual Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and to the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, following a devastating explosion at the port of Bandar Abbas, which resulted in numerous casualties.
In his messages, Patriarch Kirill addressed both Iranian leaders:
“Dear Brother, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,
Your Excellency, Honorable Mr. President,
With deep sorrow, I received the news of the explosion at the port of Bandar Abbas, which caused the loss and suffering of many people.
In these tragic days, I offer my heartfelt condolences to the entire Iranian people. Please convey my words of comfort and support to the families of the deceased, and my prayers and wishes for the speedy recovery of all those injured.”
