Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Rus’ met with students and professors from the School of Medicine on Thursday, January 24.
The head of the Church of Russia, in his speech, referred to abortion as well as to prenatal control.
“When you decide to end a pregnancy because of fetal anomalies, you are a criminal,” Patriarch Moscow said.
In addition, Patriarch Cyril said: “Killing an embryo that may be at a disadvantage, you kill a disable person. Only Hitler did this in order that healthy people can be the only one to live in the world.”
“Think about what would happen if, based on prenatal research, Stephen Hawking’s mother decided to have an abortion! Future generations would have been deprived of a great personality, and a brilliant physicist,” added Patriarch Moscow.
Earlier, Patriarch Kirill from the floor of the State Duma demanded that the abortion system be banned from the insurance system, and give each woman an ultrasound in order to listen to the heart of the fetus.
“I’m sorry to say so, but murdering children is seen as an ordinary medical service, compared to any other medical procedure,” Patriarch of Moscow said.
Finally, the Patriarch reminded that the Church has already opened 160 centers for pregnant women in Russia, known as “House for mother” for any future mother in a difficult situation.
