On June 8, 2025, the Feast of the Holy Trinity (Pentecost), Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia presided over the solemn Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra, marking the monastery’s patronal feast. The service, held in the open air before the Trinity Cathedral, was attended by numerous faithful, high-ranking church hierarchs, government officials, and distinguished guests.
In his sermon, Patriarch Kirill emphasized the unifying power of the Holy Spirit, recalling that the Spirit has safeguarded the Church’s unity since the first Pentecost in Jerusalem. He prayed fervently for peace amid the ongoing conflicts, particularly highlighting the suffering in Gaza and the war in Ukraine, urging all to seek reconciliation and unity.
The event included special prayers and hymns performed by the Lavra’s choir under the direction of Hieromonk Nestor Volkov, and was broadcast live on Russian Orthodox television channels. Patriarch Kirill also venerated the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh and the renowned icon of the Holy Trinity by Andrei Rublev, reinforcing the deep spiritual heritage of the monastery and its significance for Orthodox Christianity worldwide.
