Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia extended his deep condolences to the Church of Albania and all those who grieve the loss of late Archbishop Anastasios of Albania.
In his message, the Patriarch described Archbishop Anastasios as “a truly distinguished foremost hierarch of the Orthodox Church,” whose tireless service to Christ and his transformative leadership in Albania left an indelible legacy.
The Patriarch honored Archbishop Anastasios as “an erudite and tireless servant of Christ, a renewer of the Church of Albania, a recognized theologian and a great peacemaker,” who was “a builder of churches and monasteries” and a founder of many vital centers in education, social service, and youth.
The Patriarch also expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the clergy, monastics, and people of Albania, while offering prayers for the eternal rest of Archbishop Anastasios, “that the Lord might grant him the abode of the righteous.”
