On March 5, Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria met with students from the Yane Sandanski High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in Gotse Delchev, Bulgaria.
The group was accompanied by the school’s principal, Elka Bozhikova, and the vice principals, Zlatka Milcheva and Donka Pirgova. Metropolitan Seraphim of Nevrokop was also present at the meeting.
During an informal conversation with the Patriarch, the students discussed various topics and shared their thoughts and questions about faith, spiritual life, and the relationship between humans and God.
Patriarch Daniel emphasized that the foundation of Orthodoxy is love for God and one’s neighbor, gratitude, respect, and mutual support. He also reminded them that prayer unites a person with God, who gives us the strength to overcome trials and doubts and who comforts us in difficult moments.
On behalf of the school administration and students, Elka Bozhikova, the principal of the Yane Sandanski High School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, expressed gratitude to Patriarch Daniel and Metropolitan Seraphim of Nevrokop for the meeting. She also presented the Patriarch with a painting. Patriarch Daniel blessed the students and their teachers and offered them icons and small gifts as a prayerful remembrance.
