Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria attended the musical poem “The Hermit of Rila,” staged from July 11 to 13 in the square before the Patriarchal Cathedral St. Alexander Nevsky, marking the 1160th anniversary of the Baptism of Bulgaria.
Among the attendees were the Speaker of the National Assembly, Natalia Kiselova, and hundreds of spectators who enjoyed this unforgettable cultural and spiritual experience.
The event, part of the Sofia Opera and Ballet’s calendar, was organized with the support of the Sofia Municipality and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, and stood out as a major highlight in the city’s cultural program.
“The Hermit of Rila” is based on a text by Tihomir Pavlov and music by Economos Kiril Popov. The poem tells the story of the life and work of St. John of Rila, the heavenly protector of the Bulgarian people.
