Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East, paid an inspection visit to St. Elias Church in the Dweilaa district of Damascus, reviewing the progress of restoration works carried out following the terrorist bombing that struck the church last June.
During the visit, Patriarch John was briefed on the repairs completed to date, as well as the remaining stages required to fully restore the church to its former state. The explosion, which caused significant structural damage and left the local community deeply shaken, had prompted immediate efforts to secure, repair, and rehabilitate the historic parish.
Patriarch John X expressed gratitude to all those working tirelessly on the restoration and emphasized the Church’s unwavering commitment to standing with its faithful, supporting devastated communities, and preserving sacred sites that hold deep spiritual and cultural significance.
The Patriarch also offered prayers for peace, protection, and healing for all affected, reaffirming that the people of the Church remain united in hope despite the hardships faced.
