Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East paid a farewell visit to the Apostolic Nuncio to Syria, Cardinal Mario Zenari, at the Apostolic Nunciature in Damascus, on the occasion of the conclusion of the Cardinal’s diplomatic mission after 17 years of service in Syria.
During the meeting, Patriarch John X of Antioch expressed his deep appreciation for the role Cardinal Zenari played during this critical period in the history of Syria and the wider region, highlighting in particular the contribution of the Holy See in building bridges of dialogue and mutual understanding.
For his part, Cardinal Zenari thanked the Patriarch for the visit and expressed his respect for the efforts undertaken by the Patriarchate amid the ongoing challenges facing the Christian presence in Syria and the broader Middle East.
