Patriarch John X of Antioch received Archimandrite Philip Vasiltsev, representative of the Russian Orthodox Church to the Patriarchal See, on May 19, 2026, at the Patriarch’s official residence in Damascus.
During their extended meeting, the two discussed a broad range of issues concerning cooperation and relations between the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East and the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Damascus.
Particular attention was given to matters related to ecclesiastical collaboration and the activities of the Russian Church’s representation in Syria.
According to the representation’s official website, Archimandrite Philip also requested the blessing of Patriarch John X for a pilgrimage visit to the Patriarchal Monastery of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Bloumana.
