Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East visited the Syrian embassy in the Emirates.
He was received by the Chargé d’Affairs of the Syrian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates, Ambassador Ghassan Abbas, at the embassy’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, accompanied by Bishop Gregorios Khoury.
The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sherif Al-Badawi, the Ambassador of Lebanon, Fouad Dandan, the Chargé d’Affairs of the State of Palestine, First Counselor Hamdan Al-Nazzal, the Syrian Consul General Kinan Zahr El-Din, and some members of the Syrian community attended the meeting.
The ambassador welcomed the Patriarch of Antioch and hoped that His pastoral visit to the Emirates would be a source of blessing and consolation for the community members in the country.
For His part, the Patriarch delivered a speech to express joy at being in this place. He also conveyed happiness due to the presence of some ambassadors from the neighboring Arab countries and wished for the Arab world to remain united for the wellness of human beings.
The Patriarch affirmed to the attendees that the Syrian people are striving with every effort to remain steadfast in their homeland despite the recent wave of immigration.
The Patriarch of Antioch stressed that the mission of the Patriarchate is clear. It is the mission of love, steadfastness in the land, and coexistence among all the citizens and components of the nation.
