On August 1, 2025, Patriarch John of Antioch and All the East received the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Alaa Moussa, and his wife at the Patriarchal Headquarters in Balamand. The meeting was attended by Dr. Elias Warrak, President of the University of Balamand.
The Patriarch praised Egypt’s historic role in the Arab world and commended its current leadership under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The meeting was an opportunity for both the Patriarch and the Ambassador to emphasize the importance of coexistence and the values of citizenship.
The Ambassador praised the role of the Antiochian Church in the East and the world, affirming Egypt’s condemnation of the heinous crime that took place at St. Elias Church in Dweilaa, Damascus. He stressed that launching an inclusive political process in Syria—one that embraces all components of society—is the path toward restoring and ensuring stability in the country.
