Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East received Turkish Ambassador to Syria Nuh Yılmaz, accompanied by a delegation, at the Patriarchal Headquarters in Damascus on July 27, 2026.
During the meeting, Patriarch John welcomed the Turkish ambassador and highlighted the strong ties between the two sides.
The Patriarch also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Turkish authorities in facilitating his recent pastoral visit to the communities of the Patriarchate of Antioch in Türkiye.
The discussions included an overview of the current situation of the Antiochian Orthodox communities in Antioch, Hatay and Mersin.
Patriarch John X and Ambassador Yılmaz also exchanged views on current developments and issues concerning the wider region.
