Patriarch John of Antioch and All the East, strongly condemned the recent events in Al-Suqaylabiyah during a meeting with metropolitans and bishops held on March 30, 2026, at the Patriarchal headquarters in Damascus.
During the solidarity meeting, the Patriarch, together with the attending hierarchs, expressed firm rejection of all actions that threaten the model of peaceful coexistence in Syria. He emphasized the need to “raise our voice against anything that undermines the spirit of shared life” among the country’s diverse communities.
Among those present were Metropolitan Basilios Mansour of Akkar, Metropolitan Athanasius Fahd of Latakia, Metropolitan Gregorios Khoury of Homs, as well as Bishops Romanos Al-Hannat, Moussa Al-Khoury, Dimitri Sharbek, Youhanna Batash, and Arsenius Dahdal.
The Patriarch and the hierarchs reiterated their condemnation of the incident in Al-Suqaylabiyah and called for the preservation of unity, stability, and mutual respect among all Syrians, highlighting the importance of safeguarding the country’s long-standing tradition of coexistence.
